Gödöllő & Bear Farm & Eger & Hollókő

Important Notice!

A tour that explores Hungary’s Habsburg heritage in Gödöllö. This charming town boasts a beautiful baroque palace that was once the spring and autumn residence of the royal couple – Franz Joseph and Sisi. Despite the fact that the building had to endure all the hardships of the 20th century, it is now among the most well-preserved palaces in the country and the only place where you can learn about the life of the Habsburg’s from a personal perspective.

Feeding the bears with a big spoon. The Veresegyháza Bear House is the only bear asylum in Central Europe so far and is a must-see place, and not only for families with small children. When visiting here, you will not only see these brown giants, but will also meet gray wolves and a white wolf, and even the newcomers, the little reindeers who have found their home here. For more info: www.medveotthon.hu

The cityscape of the town of Eger is a result of a long period of development. The Baroque style mixed with the medieval Turkish monuments created a very characteristic architecture. The atmosphere of the city is both heroic and stunning, charming and friendly. The many-century-old castle of Eger radiates the message of patriotism and courage. Priesthood played a decisive role in the development of the city, having built schools, community buildings and hospitals. The Diocesan Library in the Lyceum was founded by Bishop Károly Eszterházy.

Hollókő the most original Hungarian village, the Palóc World Heritage Site. Those who have visited this landscape of Hungarian folk tales will never forget it. It was no accident that the beautiful Palóc landscape and this idyllic village was included on the list of World Heritage sites in 1987. The 67 protected houses of the Old Village are also registered by UNESCO. It was not only the first Hungarian site on the list, but the first village in the whole world that earned this title.
